Hi all,

these is text which was forwarded to me from a well-known European CW association which asked me to remind PSK operators to respect the IARU band plan. This is all about Region 1 and it's about daytime QSOs within Europe. If you wish to leave an educated comment I will be happy to forward it.

By now it should be common knowledge that the IARU has assigned the subband portion 7035 to 7040 kHz to CW exclusively on March 29, 2009.

Unfortunately, this former digital sub band seems to be a very special case because sub band abuse outnumbers regular use.

While it is pretty easy to count CW stations there from Reverse Beacon Network data, PSK statistics are harder to obtain since RBN skimmers for digital modes are still rare.

If we kept the volatile spots we see regularly we would soon have a nice collection:

Based on 35758 spots and 4294 detected call signs. Spots taken randomly between 0700 and 2200 UTC. The average number of spots per call is 8.3 This is not too bad, the average user with a sloppy view about the IARU band plan was looged only once in three days.

Obviously the respect for the band plan varies from country to country.

Who are those who don't respect the bandplan? You find them on the usual Internet pages every day...

Who produced most abusive spots? As it is no honour to be listed here we have anonymized the suffix letter. Those who are listed may recognize themselves and feel ashamed or proud or whatever....

These are the number of spots per individual station in February. So the most active individual using digital modes in the CW band has a call starting with I4. This denotes one particular I4, not all I4s with a 3-letter suffix. In fact there is just on I4 in the set of massive abusers.
